Babe On A Mish of the month is reserved for someone who inspires… and who can be inspiring to others. Since the last time I had my first BOAM of the Month, a lot has changed in 4 short weeks. The country has started its emergence from the COVID cocoon and a revolution has started.

I personally have started cherry picking who I choose to be influenced by.

And I keep going back to Makeba Marie, happy to call her a friend, she is also a flight attendant for American Airlines. Makeba and I found each other thru another FA friend ( shoutout Daphni @yungjetlag ) on instagram.. we bonded weeks ago over our Whole Food’s obsesh and artichokes. I personally followed her diligently because of her style in home decor, and her incredibly infectious energy.  

However, in light of the world's events ( the killing of George Floyd and so many other innocent black people ), I have continued to go back over and over again to Makeba for information, and sound advice. At a young 29 years old, Makeba has a voice and style that I am still trying to achieve at 36.

It’s not easy to be a woman, and shout from the rooftops things that you're passionate about without being criticized for doing just that. It is also not easy to lead in a time when so many people preach but are short to follow it up. Makeba repeatedly delivers on her word. More recently, she did an insta post that I most certainly would like to do on my network of a “pay it forward” approach of others buying each other lunch.. a simple act of kindness that can truly make anyone's day.  This woman continues to blow me away with her creativity in connecting with others, not to mention, my sis can cook too and also always seems to  have a killer cocktail up her sleeve… 

I recently caught up with Makeb and besides begging her to start a blog (more on that later ) , I got a chance to get to know this mega babe on a mish..

I have to selfishly say that question 10 ( and 6 bc I am grocery obsessed ) has by far been my favorite questions. It just kinda gives you a feel, or a sense of how people navigate their lives. How they eat and what words propel them through this crazy world.  

I really wish Makeba was my neighbor, because some people just push you in ways without even knowing it.. Luckily for me, I can stalk Keebs soon at her own special spot on the internet- ohgeezkeebs.com..is launching superrr soon.. This special soul is creating a website where her content can live.. A healthy place of Politics and informational fun, where fashion, cocktails and food combine. Its a Lifestyle Blog but let me warn you.. this babe is nothing less than ordinary, and she will keep you coming back.. and thinking.

Which is exactly what I have appreciated about her.

I’m watching the world change, and I am learning. And as long as I have someone like Makeba around to check me.. I know I wont get it twisted. Say what you want about social media.. but with women like Makeba taking charge, its a space that keeps getting better. Can’t wait til our paths cross IRL.. In the meantime, lets go change the world.
