Small Biz Really is all the RAGE this Holiday Season.. and heres why..
To be honest I have no idea when Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any sale for that matter starts or ends. I joked about this last year - when my INBOX became a flurry of sales.. This year it feels as though I was backed against the wall as early as Halloween.
One thing is for certain tho-
Small Business Saturday.
It's still a tried and true thing. At least it is for our beloved small businesses, that have by the grace of GOD, survived through this summer and are hanging on to they’re neighborhoods by a very thin thread. With little to no help still from our local and federal lawmakers- its is our Kuleana - our responsibility- to put our money back to the neighborhoods we drive, walk through, and make memories in.
It really is the $20 purchase, scone, muffin or lunch, and buying your book at your local bookstore (gasp! I know- they do still exist!), that truly does make all the difference. There's a meme out there and I am sure you all have seen it-
“Whenever you buy from a local business- an actual person does a happy dance”, to be honest I see that vision when I do shop small. And my soul smiles.
My local community has been hit especially hard ( not to take away from yours in any way ). I live in Hawaii, where the state literally sold its soul to tourism eons ago. And though there is effort to bring our local agriculture and other exports back to life- it is the tourism that quite literally has run the lives of so many ( 80% of the population to be exact ).
We as a community have been weathering the hit of COVID best we can and its effect on our island home. It's not so much the tourists that provide the financial backing to my local neighborhood businesses-
Its people like me and others who make the money off the tourism, who then spend it in our neighborhoods…
