5 Spring 2021 Trends that will carry you through Summer

I wouldn’t call myself a “fashionista”

but I am a nicer person when I like my outfit and hair for that matter.

I try not to really “give in” to any super trendy things although I was feelin the hot girl summer of 2019 in my neon Calvin Klein pumps.

Anyway, with the year already moving at a rapid pace and places opening back up ( for some of us ), it’s felt good to get a haircut and some fresh threads. I’ve noticed some spring trends that I think will take you through summer and keep you with a pep in your step. Spoiler alert: the kitten heel is a mood booster and I’m so happy its back.

  • 90s fit anything- jeans ( think wide legged, still a high waist but more relaxed fit )  and shorts. My mom told me a long time ago - no one knows what size you are except you. I’ve always remembered that and that's exactly what I love about this trend. A loose relaxed, baggy look. Room for too many Rose’s, Margs, a few beers or a massive brunch.  I know a longer short may seem scary, so if that's not your steeze straight away, ease into with my girl @denimbyorlee she has all the baggy Levi’s and her customer service is impeccable (let her know I sent you). The key here is to wear a fitted top to even out the look.

  • The Kitten Heel- sigh- so Carrie knew all along.. I wasn’t too sure about this trend, I’ve always loved my wedges to be honest. But I’ve been rocking black kitten heels from Zara for months, and I’m ready for more. The trend with this is moving into all colors ( but stepping out in the 3 classic colors black, white and neutral are a good start )  and the quilted padded, ruched, with a square toe is everywhere. A kitten thonged sandal is  another nice classic IMO. This trend is spilling over to bags too- of course- more on that later..

  • A chic Blazer. This is a staple and it is the perfect Spring accessory. Even though I gravitate to tropical climates- restaurants, and anywhere with AC always has me constantly reaching for something to throw over my strappy tanks. Of course I raved about my recent purchase from Target. The few things I think is important in styling this piece is a slight oversized tailored look and you want it to hit your upper thigh. My fav combo is still a blazer and bike shorts, or jeans, I just feel super elevated whenever I throw one on. And you will too. Take her from day to night and back to the office- you can splurge or try the one I got at Target- but when you find one that fits right- get it.

  • Oversized Button Ups with simple bras peeking through. Nothing like a classic crisp white, blue pinstriped, silk or black button up to take you from the pool/beach to an evening out. Basically Shackets are going to be with us probably through the year.. and it really is the perfect accessory/ main player. You can pair this with your 90s shorts and kitten heels too. The specific part about this trend I am loving is the black bra or cute bikini top underneath that's meant to have a peekaboo moment.  Also I like throw it over a spring dress, my bikini, or keep it classic with a fitted pair of Levis. She goooo..

  • The Dumpling bag/ Baguette bag/ quilted, ruched, padded bags- a few pieces that will complement your outfit and compliment those kitten heels. I got the two I knock-offs on Amazon and Target.  Will this be the year of Bottega? I won’t count it out but before I splurge on a bag that is as much as my rent these will do. I like the simplicity of the shoulder bag and any dumpling bag and honestly I am just really digging the texture emergence on everything.

Of course there's dresses, trousers will be huge, anything backless, bike shorts and other trends you will see me in but this is where the meat and potatoes are in IMO. Classic pieces to elevate any outfit. This is just the beginning and perfect time to treat yo self with that stimmy (stimulus check).I’m telling you- don’t sleep on that kitten heel- she is everywhere you want to be..

This is my first “fashion trend” piece.. Lmk if you're into it.. And tag me if you pull the trigger on any of these trends! Or what do you see that’s more your vibe??
